Myteri 2017. What is there to say? Are there anything needed to be said? Doesn't everybody know this act by now? This is their second release of dark crustpunk, yet melodic, just as it was meant to be. Deriving from Gothenburg. Recently played with Totalt jävla mörker and then Link from Belgium. Both to fit great onto the sound of Myteri. To play on Obscene Extreme 2017. Twelve songs of misery and despair!

Könnt Ihr Euch noch daran erinnern wie es an Weihnachten als Kind war? Wenn man seine Geschenke auspackt und sich so freut, endlich das langersehnt Spielzeug in Händen zu halten? Je älter ich wurde, desto seltener hatte ich dieses Gefühl. Sobald man mal einen Job hat, kann man sich den ganzen Kram selber kaufen und diese Magie wird sehr selten. Schön ist es, wenn man dann eine Band wie Myteri entdeckt. In meiner Facebook Timeline tauchte ein Link auf die Seite http://www.idioteq.com zum Album Ruinier von Myteri auf. Da stand was von “swedish crusty d-beat hardcore punk”. Jedes Wort ein Volltreffer, dachte ich noch und hörte mir den Stream an. Wie schon oft erwähnt wußte ich nach wenigen Sekunden, daß mir dieses Album sehr gefällt.
Ein paar Tage später erhielt ich von Timo von ALERTA ANTIFASCISTA Records / DOOMROCK Mailorder einen Link zum Download – welch ein Zufall – von Myteri – Ruiner!!!

Da die Band für mich komplett neu war und im Web lediglich eine Facebook Seite, eine Bandcamp Seite, die auf einen Youtube Channel mit 10(!) Abonnenten (Stand 21.09.2107) verweist, war ich über die Bandinfo doch recht froh:
Myteri kommen aus Gothenburg (wie auch Skitsystem), Schweden. Sie spielen fetten Crust-Punk und Ruiner ist ihr zweites Album. Auf der Bandcamp Seite schreiben sie selbst, daß sie eine D.I.Y. Band aus Gothenburg/Falkoping/Kristinehamn sind, die melodischen Crust spielen.
Die Texte der 12 Songs sind ausnahmslos auf schwedisch, in der Bandinfo steht noch daß sie apokalyptische Landschaften, Kriege, Plagen, Elend und Hungersnöte heraufbeschwören. Aber – es scheint immer etwas Hoffnung durch. Also ungefähr so wie in einem Mad Max Film.

Das Intro beginnt wie die Ruhe vor dem Sturm, ruhige, zarte, unverzerrte Gitarren, die dann recht schnell verzerrt werden, dann das Tempo erhöhen, und mit voller Breitseite über einen hereinbrechen. Dieses scheinbare Chaos wird durch die tollen Melodien getragen, die bei mir in den Gehörgängen hängen bleiben. Mir scheint es so, als ob die Band eine unbändige Spielfreude an den Tag legt, die einen mitreißt. Am ehesten würde ich – wenn man mich um einen Vergleich fragen würde – das letzte Album von Martydöd – List, nennen. Die meist sehr schnellen Songs wechseln sich mal mit langsameren Parts ab und bleiben stets so unvorhersehbar, daß keine Langeweile aufkommt. Deswegen läuft das Album bei mir auch rauf und runter. Neulich war ich mit dem Rad unterwegs und ein Regenschauer hat mich so richtig erwischt, egal, hab Myteri gehört und mich deswegen richtig gefreut. Meine Jacke, Hose und die Schuhe wurden komplett durchnäßt, trotzdem hatte ich ein lächeln im Gesicht. Das Outro fängt ähnlich wie das Intro an, bleibt aber ruhig und die Melodie hat definitiv Ohrwurmcharakter, wow.

Für mich stehen Myteri nun im D-Beat/Crust-Olymp direkt neben Größen wie Tragedy, Skitsystem, Martyrdöd, Ictus, Wolfbrigade, Disfear und Fredag Den 13:e.

Das Album (LP) Ruiner von Myteri ist am 20.09.2017 bei Alerta Antifascista Records erschienen und ist bei http://www.doomrock.com erhältlich, neben einem ganzen Sack voll toller Bands wie Fall Of Efrafa, Downfall Of Gaia, etc.

It seems that 2017 is the year of the crust. So many (and good) releases this year, it’s hard to decide what to mention. Wolfbrigade? Ancst? Procrastinate’s debut? Thankfully the genre is not characterized by just a quantity of new albums but by the quality of said albums. Myteri are to be added to that list of names with their new album, their second one, “Ruiner” aka “how to play dark swedish neocrust: a 38 min long lesson of anger and darkness”. I still remember how I felt listening to their self titled debut a few months ago (yeah, it took me almost 2 years to listen to them, guilty as charged). Meaningful violence, reasonable hate and an attempt to wake up a slumbering humanity. “Ruiner” continues from the point they left us with their debut. Their mentality remains the same, that seems impossible, and so does their musical style, without becoming a barren repetition. On the contrary, they are looking forward with this album, stand on the firm base their first release created. The transition between slow, kind of melancholic parts to angrier patterns, a characteristic neo-crust element, is done in a great way, making it impossible for the listener to get bored, no matter how many times it gets listened. Every song is a small diamond but, if I had to choose the best ones (for me) it would be “Ruiner”, Justitiemord” and “Urholkningsprocessen”. Or… who am I kidding? It’s impossible for me to choose just a few songs from an album so good! The only downside (though that is not the correct word to use) is that their lyrics are in Swedish making it impossible for me to understand what they are saying. But with bands like Myteri, music does all the talking, the feelings they are expressing can not be misunderstood, even if we don’t understand the words. The “meaning” of their songs is still there and maybe, just maybe, that’s one of the things that make them such a great band. They don’t have to sing in my language or any other language, they are expressing humanity’s anger against every wrongdoing, making translation something needless.

Après avoir réédité au début de l’été leur premier album éponyme, en LP & Digital par l’intermédiaire des labels Alerta Antifascista Records (Archivist, Hexis, Oaken, Sól,…), Chaos Rural Records, Replenish Records (HVØSCH, Milanku, etc.) et à nouveau les labels Halvfabrikat Records, Phobia Records et Svoboda Records, les Suédois de Myteri (D-Beat/Hardcore/punk) viennent de sortir un nouvel opus long-format intitulé ‘Ruiner’, en LP & Digital à nouveau avec l’appui des labels déjà en charge du repressage vinyl de son prédécesseur.

Une bonne nouvelle s’accompagnant bien souvent d’une seconde, l’album est dès à présent disponible en écoute intégrale sur Bandcamp soit juste ci-dessous.

It’s the second full length from the bearded men from Sweden. You already know what to expect, don’t you? Yeah, but before we get to it, there is storm that opens the record. Great way to start especialy when melodic guitar follows and they gain speed gradually. Then comes the Swedish crust assault. The title track ‘Ruiner’ is the trademark of this record. Hardcore crust at full speed, screaming vocals and melodic guitar in the background. Sorry, in the foreground. And this is what I don’t really like here. If this guitar was a bit hidden, still noticeable but well levelled with the beautiful vocals, I would be content, in the crust sense of this word.

Sure you can’t help but hear FALL OF EFRAFA echos here and there. Or TRAGEDY for that matter. But there is nothing wrong with it, this is played perfectly well, it is well balanced and MYTERI have got their own ideas on how to build songs. The whole picture is pretty gloomy, apocalyptic answer to how to survive in this fucked up world. That’s how I get it as most tracks are in Swedish.

As in All Alerta Antifascista records this is a gatefold with a handfull of vinyl colours in limited editions plus A2 poster for your crusty workspace.
